Site Location: Chatham – North Kent
A contractor delivering a large-scale storm water attenuation tank required a safe and efficient solution for deep excavation support and temporary works stability during below-ground construction.
Following the installation of pre-driven sheet piles, SEL provided a hydraulic bracing solution for excavation support, enabling the formation of multiple bays to suit the phased construction of the tank.
Using our H-Series Hydraulic Bracing system, the contractor was able to:
- Maintain lateral earth pressure resistance throughout the excavation
- Safely excavate to formation level within a sheet piled cofferdam
- Install the attenuation tank in sequential segments without compromising stability
- Ensure compliance with temporary works and excavation safety requirements
This approach ensured a safe, compliant and efficient excavation process, reducing risk while maintaining productivity on site.
Once the sheet piles were pre-driven into the ground and our system bracing installed, the contractor was safely able to excavate down to the formation level and install their tank in several segments.
SEL also provided the contractor with Temporary Works Designs detailing the setup and specification of all supplied equipment.
