H20 Timber Formwork Beams

The industry-standard I-section timber formwork beam for slab and wall support

  • EN 13377 compliant
  • High load-bearing capacity
  • Exceptional strength-to-weight
  • Shock-absorbing end caps
  • Fast nationwide delivery

Doka H20 timber formwork beams are the foundational structural members for modern concrete shuttering. Lightweight, dimensionally stable, and incredibly strong, they are available for hire or sale across the UK for use in both slab and wall formwork applications.

Manufactured from high-quality spruce with mechanically stress-graded flanges, H20 beams are proof-loaded to ensure consistent performance on site. Built-in system holes at each end allow for fast, secure connections with standard formwork accessories.

The Backbone of Formwork

Whether acting as the primary and secondary bearers in a Dokaflex 124 Soffit Support System, or deployed vertically as strongbacks in custom timber wall formwork, H20 beams provide a reliable permitted moment of 5.0 kNm and a shear force capacity of 11.0 kN.

H20 Top vs. H20 Eco

We supply two variants of the Doka H20 beam:

  • Doka H20 top: The premium beam designed for maximum longevity. It features built-in polyurethane shock absorbers on the ends to prevent splintering when dropped, and the web ends are fully sealed against moisture and UV radiation.
  • Doka H20 eco: The standard solid-web beam for cost-effective shoring. It utilizes bevelled flange-ends and plastic rivets to reduce corner damage, offering dependable performance. Both Top and Eco variants are available with either a three-ply web (4.4 kg/m) or a compressed board web (5.3 kg/m).

H20 Timber Formwork Beams: Common Questions

What are Doka H20 timber formwork beams used for?
Doka H20 timber formwork beams are used as the primary structural supports for wet concrete formwork. They can be laid horizontally as primary and secondary bearers for slab formwork (like Dokaflex), or stood vertically behind shuttering ply to form wall and column forms.
What is the difference between Doka H20 top and H20 eco beams?
The main difference between the H20 top and H20 eco is their end-protection and lifespan. The "top" version includes built-in polyurethane shock absorbers and sealed ends to drastically extend its life on site, while the "eco" version uses simple bevelled flanges for a more cost-effective, standard solution.
What is the load-bearing capacity of an H20 timber beam?
Both the H20 top and H20 eco have a permitted bending moment of 5.0 kNm, a permitted shear force of 11.0 kN, and a rigidity (E x I) of 450 kNm², conforming strictly to the EN 13377 standard.
What standard lengths do H20 timber beams come in?
H20 timber beams are available in standard lengths from 1.80m up to 5.90m, with the most common sizes being 2.45m, 2.90m, 3.30m, and 3.90m to suit various grid spacing requirements.
Are H20 timber beams compatible with standard steel floor props?
Yes. H20 timber beams are designed to be supported by standard vertical steel shoring, such as Eurex props. The props are fitted with a 4-Way Head H20 which securely cradles the timber beam without the need for additional fixings.
