  • For 40mm to 180mm wall thicknesses
  • Three-way camlock outer and inner grip
  • For 800mm to 2000mm manhole rings
  • Fast nationwide UK delivery

Our gully and manhole clamps are a three-way mechanical lifting set for precast concrete road gully pots, manhole rings and tapered cones. They grip securely over the top of the concrete rim and can lift sections up to 3 tonnes.

Typical Applications

You can use these clamps with an excavator or crane to offload precast drainage units from lorries and lower them into the trench:

  • Trapped and untrapped precast concrete road gully pots
  • Eccentric and concentric tapered manhole cones and reducer slabs
  • Precast concrete manhole rings from 800mm to 2,000mm internal diameter
  • Cut ring sections or chamber units supplied without cast-in lifting pin holes

Three-Way Camlock System

Our gully and manhole clamps comprise three C-shaped clamp heads hanging on flexible legs from a central master link. Because each clamp hangs on its own leg, you can fit them onto sloped or offset manhole cones that a rigid internal ring grab cannot hold.

There are no screw threads to wind in or out by hand. To attach, you simply slip the three open clamps over the concrete lip. As the operator takes up the weight on the machine, the camlock teeth close against both the outer and inner wall, gripping the section tightly.

Once the operator lowers the gully pot or manhole section onto its bedding and slacks off the slings, the latch on each head holds the jaws open. The operator can then lift the clamps straight off the rim. This differs from lifting with chains where a worker would be required to enter the trench in order to unhook things.

1.5 Tonne and 3 Tonne Models

We stock two sizes to match the weight and wall thickness of your concrete units:

  • The 1.5 tonne (1,500kg) set fits wall thicknesses from 40mm to 120mm and weighs around 28kg, suitable for road gully pots, cones and standard DIN 4034 Part 2 manhole rings.
  • The 3 tonne (3,000kg) set fits thicker walls from 60mm to 180mm and weighs around 40kg, built for heavy chamber bases, deep manhole rings (DIN 4034 Parts 1 and 2) and thick-walled cones.

Clamps, Ring Lifters or Lifting Pins?

If you are lifting gullies, tapered cones or concrete rings without pre-cast holes, these top-rim clamps are the right choice. Because the jaws grip over the top lip, there are no through-wall pin holes left to mortar up once the chamber is built.

For straight-sided cylindrical rings between 900mm and 1,500mm internal diameter, we also supply 2,500kg manhole ring lifters. If your rings already have cast-in side holes, we also sell manhole ring lifting pins in 25mm, 32mm and 35mm sets for loads up to 1,500kg, used with standard lifting chains.

Common Questions

How do three-leg gully and manhole clamps grip and release?
Three-leg gully and manhole clamps are slipped over the top rim of the gully pot or manhole ring, and as the crane or excavator takes the weight, the serrated camlock teeth close against the outer and inner walls of the concrete. When the operator lowers the unit onto its bedding and slacks off the legs, a latch on each clamp head holds the jaws open so the clamp can be lifted clear.
Should I choose the 1.5 tonne or 3 tonne gully and manhole clamp?
Choose the 1.5 tonne (1,500kg) gully and manhole clamp for precast concrete road gully pots, tapered cones and standard manhole rings with wall thicknesses between 40mm and 120mm. Choose the 3 tonne (3,000kg) clamp for thicker concrete rings, chamber bases and heavy cones with wall thicknesses from 60mm to 180mm.
Can gully and manhole clamps lift tapered manhole cones as well as straight rings?
You can use three-way gully and manhole clamps to lift both tapered manhole cones and straight cylindrical rings from 800mm to 2,000mm nominal internal diameter. Because the three clamp heads hang on separate legs and grip over the top rim rather than pushing against a vertical bore, they fit eccentric and concentric cones as well as road gullies.
Do precast concrete gullies and manhole rings need cast-in holes to use these clamps?
Precast concrete gullies and manhole rings do not need cast-in holes when you lift them with three-way gully and manhole clamps. The camlock jaws grip directly onto the cured concrete wall from the outer and inner faces, so you can lift un-holed or cut rings without having to mortar up pin holes afterwards.
Are gully and manhole clamps supplied with LOLER certification?
We supply all gully and manhole clamps for hire or sale with current LOLER 1998 thorough examination certificates. Before lifting on site, check that the concrete is fully cured, brush any mud or ice off the rim, space the three clamps evenly at 120 degrees, and make a 50mm to 100mm test lift to check the load hangs level. The safe lifting of anything on site remains the operator's responsibility.
