Column clamps are adjustable steel bars that grip the formwork tightly around a square or rectangular concrete column. They are a simple, low-cost way to form in-situ columns, piers and pillars.

You box the column in with timber or steel shutters, then lock a set of four clamps around it at each level. A wedge through the slots pulls them tight against the pressure of the wet concrete, and knocks back out to strike the form in seconds. Because the bars adjust, one set fits a range of column widths. You may also hear them called formwork clamps, shuttering clamps or pillar clamps.

Column clamps for formwork (per set of 4 including wedges) come in the following sizes:

  • No 1: 200mm to 600mm
  • No 2: 300mm to 900mm
  • No 3: 400mm to 1200mm
  • No 4: 590mm to 1410mm
