Titan Aluminium Falsework Support System

A lightweight aluminium falsework system taking 127kN per leg, four times a standard floor prop.

  • Can be deployed quickly
  • Lightweight, easy to handle
  • Heavy load capacity per leg
  • Flexible for many slab heights

The Titan support system is one of the lightest aluminium falsework systems on the market. Components can be easily handled by one person, so towers go up fast, come down fast, and move between pours with minimal labour.

Titan suits slabs where the load or the height rules out a hand-set timber-beam system. Typical uses include:

  • Suspended floor slabs
  • Thick and heavily loaded slabs
  • Bridge decks
  • Soffits too high to reach with floor props

How does the Titan falsework system work?

The kit is just two main parts: legs and ledger frames. A spring-loaded captive bolt locks each frame to a leg. Nothing is loose, nothing falls into the slab below and nothing gets lost in the back of a wagon. The connection is rigid and self-aligning.

Continuous slots run the full length of each leg, letting you fix frames at any working height. Each leg can take up to 127kN, four times the 30kN of a standard Eurex floor prop. Screw jacks sit at the top and bottom of every leg, with 2.58m of adjustment between them. You wind them up to set the soffit level before the pour, and down afterwards to break the bond and lower the deck off the cured slab.

Legs can be joined vertically with a leg connecting bracket, so tower height is a matter of how many lifts you build rather than the length of a prop. Extension pieces of 0.25m, 0.5m, 1.0m and 5.0m can be used to make up non-standard heights.

The same components work as static propping towers or as flying tables lifted to the next floor by crane.

Temporary Works Design for Titan falsework

Falsework is temporary works. Under BS5975 and the CDM Regulations a competent engineer must design the scheme and a competent person must check it before the pour.

Our in-house Civil and Structural Engineers can produce that Temporary Works Design to BS5975. We can calculate tower layout and leg spacing, the bracing and lift heights, the jack extensions and the striking sequence, then issue the scheme and drawings for you to work from.

Common Questions

What is the Titan falsework system?
Titan is an aluminium falsework system for supporting concrete slabs while they are poured and cured. It is built from two main parts, legs and ledger frames, which lock together into propping towers. Each leg carries up to 127kN, and legs can be joined vertically so towers reach the height the soffit needs.
How much load can a Titan leg support?
Each Titan leg can take up to 127kN, around four times the 30kN of a standard Eurex floor prop. The legs come in sizes 1, 2, 4 and 6, weighing 16.6kg, 18.4kg, 22.4kg and 29.4kg, so one person can handle them. What your towers actually carry depends on the layout and spacing set out in the Temporary Works Design.
How high a soffit can Titan towers support?
You can build Titan towers up in lifts, so the maximum height is derived from how many legs you can stack safely rather than the length of any one leg. A leg connecting bracket joins one headplate to the next. Legs come in four hire sizes, from 1248mm to 4210mm, and you can make up the heights in between with extension pieces of 0.25m, 0.5m, 1.0m and 5.0m. Our engineers can set out the exact tower height and the bracing for your soffit in the Temporary Works Design.
What span can Titan primary beams cover?
Titan primary beams come in lengths from 1.2m to 7.2m, in both the 150mm and the 225mm depth. For a longer span you can join two 225 beams with a pair of splice plates. Which beam and which span suits your slab depends on the load it carries, which our engineers work out in the Temporary Works Design.
Should I use Titan or Dokaflex for my slab?
Dokaflex suits slabs up to 30cm thick, set out by hand on timber beams and floor props. Titan is for slabs that are thicker or more heavily loaded, and for soffits too high to reach with floor props. Our engineers can advise which one fits your slab.
How do you strike Titan after the pour?
Each leg has a screw jack at the top and bottom, with 2.58m of adjustment between them. You wind them down to break the bond and lower the deck off the cured slab. When it is safe to strike depends on the concrete gaining enough strength to carry itself, which will be set out in your Temporary Works Design.
Do I need a Temporary Works Design for Titan?
Yes. Falsework is temporary works, so under BS5975 and the CDM Regulations a competent engineer must design the scheme and a competent person must check it before the pour. Our in-house Civil and Structural Engineers can produce that design and issue the scheme and drawings for you to work from.
