A 4-leg chain sling is four legs of Grade 8 alloy chain joined around a central master link, with one hook for each corner of the load. This is an ideal chain sling for lifting our range of trench boxes, or any other equipment with four lifting points.
Beyond trench boxes, four legs suit box plates, road plates, stillages and any plant or fabrication with four lifting points. Shortening hooks on every leg let you take links out of individual corners, so an unevenly balanced load can still be lifted level and under control.
Our standard set is 10mm chain at 4m, rated to 6.7 tonnes, which handles most boxes and plant. Lighter 8mm sets at 4.25 tonnes suit smaller loads, and our heavy duty 13mm sets at 11.2 tonnes cover the heaviest box plates and structural pieces.

For 4-leg chain sling hire anywhere in the UK, contact your nearest Site Equipment depot. If the sling is going out with one of our boxes, we will make sure the right one is on the wagon.
4-leg Chain Sling Working Load Limits
Grade 8 chain rated to EN 818-4. The angles quoted below are measured between each leg and vertical.

Effective working lengths are typically 3m to 4m, measured from the bearing point of the master link to the bearing point of the hook, with other lengths available. Never use a sling with legs beyond 60° from vertical. The Working Load Limit holds from -40°C to +200°C.
The figures above are the standard ratings for Grade 8 chain. The Working Load Limit that governs any lift is the one stamped on the sling's ID tag and shown on its test certificate; always work to that.
