SEL forklift adaptors convert standard forklift and telehandler tines into a certified mobile lifting point for suspended loads up to 3,000kg. Secured across both blades with heavy-duty T-screw clamps, the attachment provides an underslung swivel hook for hoisting unpalletised materials, precast units, and site machinery without needing a mobile crane.
Typical Applications
- Steel lintel and beam positioning
- Trench pump and generator lowering
- Precast manhole ring and pipe placement
- Suspending mechanical block and kerb grabs
- Offloading unpalletised plant and machinery
- Handling bundled rebar and structural timber
How It Works and Machine Fitment
The adaptor slides directly over standard forklift or telehandler tines, bridging both blades so the load is distributed symmetrically across the carriage. Heavy-duty threaded T-screw spindles on each sleeve tighten down onto the tines, locking the attachment firmly against the blades to prevent forward movement during braking or travel across uneven ground.
An underslung 360-degree swivel hook with a spring-loaded safety latch is mounted directly to the central cross-member. The swivel allows suspended loads to rotate freely without exerting torsional stress on chains, slings, or the host machine mast.
Capacity and Machine De-Rating
The 2,000kg to 3,000kg Safe Working Load represents the structural rating of the adaptor itself. On site, the actual allowable lifting capacity is determined by the host vehicle. Because the attachment projects forward of the fork heels, it changes the machine's load centre and de-rates its lifting capacity. Operators must consult the forklift or telehandler de-rated capacity chart for the planned lift radius and boom angle before hoisting.
LOLER Compliance and Site Safety
As a lifting accessory under LOLER 1998 and PUWER 1998, every forklift adaptor supplied by SEL undergoes a thorough examination every six months and is dispatched with a valid test certificate ready for your site lifting plan. Daily operator pre-use checks should verify weld integrity, clamping screw threads, and the spring safety latch on the hook before lifting suspended loads within marked exclusion zones.
