KD6 trench sheets are heavy-duty, 8mm thick steel lapped profiles designed for deep excavations and demanding temporary works. They provide robust earth bank support where lighter standard trench sheets would be insufficient.

Manufactured from high-yield steel, our KD6 sheets offer a high strength-to-weight ratio and a substantial allowable bending moment of 43.5 kNm/m. This makes them a highly versatile and dependable shoring solution for challenging civil engineering and groundworks projects.

Heavy-duty ground support

Unlike our lighter 3.4mm standard trench sheets or 6mm SEI sheets, the KD6 profile is 8.0mm thick. This extra thickness provides the rigidity required to resist significant lateral earth and water pressures in difficult ground conditions, cohesive soils, or deeper excavations.

The KD6 is an overlapping (or lapped) sheet, meaning the edges simply overlap rather than threading into a continuous clutch like a Larssen pile. This lapped design ensures they remain quick and straightforward to pitch and drive on site, keeping temporary shoring operations efficient.

Installation and extraction

KD6 trench sheets are supplied with standard handling holes for safe lifting and pitching. They are typically driven using an excavator. To protect the tops of the sheets from damage during installation, they should be used in conjunction with a heavy-duty driving cap.

Because KD6 sheets weigh 50.0 kg/m and are often driven into dense ground, they require significant extraction force. We strongly recommend using our 7.0 tonne sheet extractor when removing them from the excavation.

Are KD6 trench sheets overlapping or interlocking?

KD6 trench sheets feature an overlapping (or lapped) design, meaning their profiled edges simply sit over one another. They do not have a structural male/female clutch like interlocking Larssen sheet piles, which makes them much quicker and easier to install.

What is the difference between KD6 and standard trench sheets?

The primary difference is thickness and strength. Standard trench sheets are typically 3.4mm thick and used for shallow, straightforward trenches. KD6 sheets are 8.0mm thick, giving them a much higher moment capacity (43.5 kNm/m) to resist pressure in deeper excavations and difficult ground.

How much do KD6 trench sheets weigh?

Our 8mm KD6 trench sheets weigh 50.0 kg/m (or 83.2 kg per square metre). Because they are heavy-duty profiles, you must ensure your excavators and lifting equipment are appropriately rated for the total length of the sheets being handled.

How do you extract KD6 sheets?

To extract KD6 sheets safely without damaging the profile, you should use a heavy-duty extraction tool. Because of the weight of the sheet and the ground friction in deep excavations, we recommend using a 7.0 tonne sheet extractor.
